earth day!

Today was one of my favourite days... Earth Day! I had so many ideas for today, but we ran out of time and the kids tired. However we got to do three things, I'm going to do some more when I get back from vacation. Like everyone with kids, we had an abundance of broken crayons that were negleced, so instead of tossing them we made mega crayons. I'd like to have done just blue, green and white and do earth ones, but we had so many colors. The kids had so much fun sorting the colors they were actually kind of sad when we mixed them. I thought the melted wax smelled horrible so we added lemon extract after they melted and they smelled so yum. If you haven't done it, you just melt the broken up, peeled crayons at 210 degrees for like 10 minutes until they are melted.

I played fetch with Chester, and the kids looked for bugs and explored nature.

We also printed out some Earth Day coloring pages, and made little earth cupcakes (gluten free!) using the mini ball cake pans... they were already getting devoured before I got to take pics!

I'm on day four of being vegan. It's one of the best things you can do for the earth actually! It's not that hard for me because I was a strict vegetarian for more than half my life, but adding gluten free in the mix. Originally I planned on just doing it 70% of the time but ended up doing 100% and it feels really good. I ocassionally eat gluten but just a tiny bit and in the morning. Also I really slack in the using products not tested on animals thing but then I watched this, which I haven't in a long time (it's sort of traumatic but a must see) and remembered why I can't (the kittens!).

I hope everyone had a wonderful day!

So remember that photoshoot of Cohen, well the photos came back (http://justice-photography.smugmug.com/) here's a little peek... are you ready?

you melted right?

Anyway, Saturday we spent the day at Busch Gardens with my friends and their kids. We had so much fun! Cohen was such a big boy on the rides and rollercoasters! We had a lovely hippie picnic outside as well (you know, everything natural, gluten free, free of everything ha). I'll upload the pictures later, if were facebook friends they are already there.

Sunday the plans were to take Cohen and the kids to Cinema Cafe (coolest ever) to see How To Train Your Dragon. I was last to arrive and they were all sold out and full, so I didn't want to disappoint Cohen I quickly used the Fandango app on the trusty iPhone and drove all the way to Military Circle Mall to take him to a real movie theater. It was our first time I was a little nervous but I made sure to bring and buy so much food to keep him busy. We were almost the only ones there, it was such a perfect mom and son date he did so well! I loved the movie by the way so did he, that night I got him some merch at Walmart. Have you seen it yet? I can't wait for it to come out on dvd!

fmm: easter!

Today's Friend Makin Monday is all about Easter, :)

Hello I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I had a really good Easter this year, despite Dan being in Iraq :/.

Anyway, I hardly got any pictures yesterday cos we were just so busy! I did take one of Cohen's Easter basket, he got the softest bunny ever. I was going to remove to pink bow and put on a new one, but then I decided I'm not afraid of giving my boy pink, it's just a color. Plus its Easter, and it's always pastel like.

My sister, husband, and new babe came down as well as my brother. We had a huge traditional Sicilian meal. Complete with two lasagnas, mozzarella, basil leaves, grilled italian sausage, biggest loaf of bread I've ever seen, eggplant caponata and an antipasta. We also had coconut cake, yum.. coconut cake just screams Easter to me! After dinner we had a family Wii Bowling competition, obviously I won. ;)

I visited my inlaws too, for an hour and Cohen played outside the whole time he had a blast. <3

I ate way too much food and candy yesterday, ughhhhhh.

xxo!

Good morning! A lot of spring cleaning is to be done today. This morning we did a quick balloon craft. If everything goes smoothly today, more will be made tonight. :)

Thursday, we did some Easter crafts with the kids. Decorated spring cookies and some paper eggs. This morning was tumbling, he really wasn't in the mood to be there because he kept trying to lay down, or walk away and even in Target he was whiny, he is definitely getting a nap today! Hope everyone has a great holiday. My sister and her baby will be in town, and my friends and I are doing an Easter egg hunt! What are your plans?

xxo!

ps. had to avoid pics of Cohen's face, we had an incident the other morning where his clumsiness struck again and he has the biggest scab on his face ahh.

Helllllo! I've had a very busy week. Sunday was his photoshoot, I haven't seen the pictures yet but I'm excited to. A lot of the shots were him just climbing trees, being natural. I took some pics myself, messing with settings on the iphone and such.
