HAPPY (late) CHRISTMAS

i'm actually a little sad to see christmas go, normally i'm not super into it but when you live in a town that gets completely decorated and has its own little christmas market its kind of hard to not get a little starry eyed about it.  coco was a very happy boy this holiday, and we got to talk to all of  the family (almost) which was nice, i've been feeling so out of touch.

since thanksgiving was a sushi meal, i kind of overcompensated with our christmas dinner.  i made way to much food, and kneaded and grated and washed dishes for hours and now my little arms and hands are sore, which is probably a sign that i should start going to the gym. hmmm.

today coco will play with his presents and i'll catch up on the housework that i skipped in the name of jesus and old saint nick.  hope everyone's holiday was lovely! x

getting rid of the funk

i've been in a little funk the past few days. dan was in a car accident and totaled the car (he's okay) and since then it's just been one catastrophe after another. so this morning i decided that i've had enough of bad days and coco and i set out to find errands to run and to just get out. we decided not to let the the couple feet of snow and the current snow downpour to stop us from going out on the town.

we went to the local walgreens type store where i got some lotion and a new toothbrush for the prince, i can't quite read the labels so i just guess on what sounds good (btw they have toys in the middle of the store to keep kids busy! love it). our next stop was mcdonalds, oh how i've missed mcdonalds, even though i never ate there in america. it just felt familiar. then we went to h&m to do the rest of his christmas shopping, he wanted some clothes for christmas and he picked out the cutest outfit. then dan met us for dinner where i basically had the best food of my life at the best italian i've eaten since i lived in sicily (salmon pasta, it doesn't get better than that).

seriously such a pick me up type day, i hope it continues.

we got a tree

tonight we went to our friend's girlfriend's grandparent's house (yeah, i know) to get a tree.  this man is like 80 and goes and chops down the trees and sells them basically all on his own.  it was on this mountain and there were about 15 cats and kittens roaming around.  so adorable!  we picked out our tree and when we got home, realized we didn't have a tree stand.  so it's sitting in the corner in a bowl of water until we can get one tomorrow.  at least we are one step closer to celebrating christmas ;)

a trip to nuremberg

yesterday we took a little trip to nuremberg to visit their christmas market, it was so beautiful and really crowded.  like i wanted to take so many photos of all of the stands but i couldn't, like physically couldn't.  but we got to try all kinds of delicious baked goods, fish, plenty of gluhwein and coco picked out two ornaments for our tree.  in between the market craziness we went out for tapas and visited a castle (i forgot the name, oops).  it was seriously such a good day.  i can't wait to explore more.
